I got my undergraduate degree in Physics with minors in Education and Astronomy from UC Santa Cruz. While at UCSC I worked on the GLAST prototype detectors for my senior thesis with Professor Robert Johnson. After graduating from UCSC, I went on to teach at DeAnza High school in Richmond, CA for one year. I have worked on and off with the SSU group, prior to getting hired full-time, as a special consultant, helping build GORT, doing workshops with both teachers and students, and testing the GLAST flight MMC hardware at SLAC during “crunch time.” I have also written a children's science picture book (illustrated by his wife, SSU artist Aurore Simonnet) entitled "Why Can't I Jump Very High? - A Book About Gravity."
I became a proud vegan in 2008 and in my spare time, I do presentations on the social, environmental and health benefits of a vegan diet. In my other free time, I like catching up on the latest technology news, writing, developing film scripts, reading and playing video games.
