Sharon has taught elementary school and science to kindergarten, first
grade, and fifth grade classes. At Sonoma State University Sharon has
taught Science Teaching Strategies for Elementary School. As the Director
of the North Bay Science
Project, a majority of her time is spent educating other teachers
on how to "teach science". With the rest of her time, Sharon
enjoys her role as a Science Specialist for the Sonoma
County Office of Education. Sharon has co-authored "Making
Connections," which is a publication that helps teachers implement
the California
Science Standards.
Sharon often presents the environmental education curricula, "Closing
the Loop and A Child's Place in the Environment." She also works
with first through fifth grade students in the Earth Watchers Science
Club, an after school environmental club which she began at an local
elementary school.
Sharon has received the Presidential Award for Excellence
in Science and Mathematics Teaching, a Christa McAuliffe Fellowship
to develop Science Performance Assessment Tasks, a Golden Bell Award
for district-wide implementation of the GLOBE Program.
Currently, Sharon is the President of the California
Science Teachers Association.
