The SNAP Educator Ambassadors will support the
development, testing, and dissemination of SNAP
educational materials, as well as materials developed across the NASA Astrophysics division.
Chosen through a nationally competed search,
they will be a part of the greater Educator Ambassador program already in place at Sonoma State University. This program, started in
2001, trains educators across the country and in Canada in the use
of NASA-related educational materials. In just the 2005/2006 time
period, 19 EAs conducted over 100 workshops that reached over 8,000 teachers nation-wide.
If SNAP is chosen to fly, then these EAs will travel to local, regional,
and national educator workshops to train other educators. This high-leverage
method reaches far more students than classroom visits do, and is an
effective method for disseminating educational materials.
